Fortuna Mining said on Monday that the government of Burkina Faso does not plan to withdraw the Canadian company's existing mining permits in the country.

International gold miners, including Canada's Iamgold, Fortuna Silver Mines, London-listed Endeavour Mining, and Australia’s West African Resources, have stated they were unaware of any potential changes to their mining permits in Burkina Faso,

Burkina Faso plans to withdraw mining permits from some foreign companies and will seek to produce more of its own gold, junta leader Ibrahim Traore said on Saturday, without specifying which permits could be cancelled.

Fortuna Mining (NYSE:FSM) finished -8.8% in Monday's trading after saying the government of Burkina Faso does not plan to withdraw the company's existing mining permits, following weekend comments by President Ibrahim Traoré that Burkina Faso would withdraw mining permits from some foreign companies and would try to produce more of its own gold.
