The comedian Nate Bargatze, a Tennessee native and Vanderbilt fan, hosted Saturday Night Live after the No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide’s humbling 40-35 loss to the unranked Commodores. As the cast gathered onstage for the closing credits, Bargatze said, “Vanderbilt beat Alabama,” and did a weightlifting flex.

Just one week removed from a massive home victory over then-ranked No. 2 Georgia, the No. 1 ranked Alabama Crimson Tide have fallen from the ranks of the unbeaten. The unranked Vanderbilt Commodores stunned the top-ranked Crimson Tide, 40-35 on Saturday evening in college football's biggest upset of the season to-date.

Vanderbilt provided two more scores in the second quarter, with the first being a touchdown and the second resulting in a field goal, which extended their lead to 23-7. However, on Alabama's final drive, the Tide would find the endzone to bring the halftime deficit to 23-14, and the Tide would also receive the kickoff to open the second half.
