When the Flyers ushered in their “New Era of Orange” in May of 2023, governor Dan Hilferty, general manager Danny Brière, and president Keith Jones preached patience as the organization embarked on its rebuild.

Jett Luchanko, one of the youngest players selected in the 2024 NHL draft, has made the Flyers' opening-day roster.

With Luchanko making the opening-night roster, he is set to make Flyers history. According to NHL insider Frank Seravalli, Luchanko will be the youngest Flyers player to appear in a game with the club at 18 years and 51 days old.

The Flyers announced their opening night roster which features a pair of teenagers in Michkov and Luchanko and 13 players that are 25 and under.

Luchanko, the Flyers' 13th overall pick this past summer, will become the youngest player to skate for the team in franchise history.

The Flyers announced their 2024-25 season-opening roster Monday and it featured the names that were expected after last Friday's cuts. Jett Luchanko officially made the roster as an 18-year-old. Luchanko looks to have made the team and in all likelihood will debut alongside Matvei Michkov on Oct. 11 in Vancouver. "I think he deserves to be with us right now," John Tortorella said.

The primary goal this season isn’t to make the playoffs. It’s to continue building a foundation in terms of both culture and development, while keeping an eye out for ways to gather future assets in the hope they become a perennial high-seeded playoff team.

At least for now, 2024 first-round pick Jett Luchanko has made the Philadelphia Flyers roster, as final cuts to the training camp squad were made on Friday afternoon.
